Since it's an AF-S lens, any inability to focus is down to the lens, not the camera. It's quite expensive here in Belarus to fix that and I'll have to trabel more than 300 km... I do have a few other lenses that I've never had AF issues with, which has only recently started me questioning the focusing on the 50mm. Do it several times if necessary until it expresses what you want.
