It's going to be very hard for someone to answer this question without knowing some more information, if at all. The manual is doing good, but when i turn it to autofocus, it just doesn't focus. If only the one lens doesn't work, them there is likely a problem with the AF motor in the lens and it would need to be repaired or replaced. Be careful for the tappets of the lens body to lock into the holes of the FPC (possibly it’s necessary to bend the FPC a bit). Don't work with the wrong tool, you won't be happy. You also should understand that the 350D requires sharpening in Photosharp or other software to get acceptable results. I've read storys of people sending lenes in several times and/or having to send the camera body in too, along with several 8x10 glossy color photos with circles and arrows and Canon Rebel Xsi Autofocus Not Working I did figure out how to make the camera work with auto focus, however it wasn't much of a solution.
If you put the lens back on and turn on the camera, you will find that the auto focus works again. You'll know when the mirror looks differently and you can see the reflections of the focus points when looking back strait into the camera. Things go wrong sometimes. The camera tech said auto focus on camera body needs calibrated. But I also had much better results for the past 30 years regarding sharp well focused images with film slr's and medium format cameras. Why were pre-election polls and forecast models so wrong about Donald Trump? The other MAJOR problem with the Canon 350 D is its auto focusing - its terrible. Sorry I can't back this up with a pic at the moment.I think this is a back-focus issue..
