I have the same issue and still can't figure out what is causing it.yes.i was told it was some kind of sensor or something that had gone bad. Turn the parking lights on and touch the red wire to the socket that it wasn't in. Then replace the bulb and check the socket for corrosion. solved this problem on both my 2000 and 2005 f250s after changing left rear brake light several times. Check This Out

everything but my P/S tail light will come on once I turn on parking light, but when I push the brake petal the two center lights go out. Is the front turn signal working, or is it just the rear that's out? A tailight (park lamps) is not the same circuit as a brake light, so the above is NOT true- and is not weird. The tail/brake light bulbs are dual filament - a dim filament for parking/running lights and a bright filament for brake lights.

If you test it outside the car, don't forget to ground the stud. In poking around, I figured out that the brake light was working, so the high filament was getting electricity through the brake circuit, but not through the turn signal circuit. I put a ground wire in the socket and it works now.
